I carry with me
Bits and pieces of you.
Each beautiful sunset
Reminds me of your smile.

You were Daddy’s girl
Your Mama left this life early.
Then you had a Mommy
She doted on me.

Your life was tough
You went through World War II.
You wanted to be a nurse
But you became a teacher instead.

Who gave you hope
Who taught you to be kind?
You didn’t have much
But you made the world richer.

You have sown good seeds
Look, they’ve grown into trees.
Their flowers give you joy
Their fruits give you hope.

You are tired, but you go on
Shining for your trees.
The world is a better place
Thanks for your love, Mama.
